Guys’ Day

Every once in awhile, Mark likes to take the day off work, send me to a hotel for the night, and then have a “guys’ day” with the boys. (Should we adopt a little girl, we’ll have to change this to “dad’s day” or something!)

So, after church Sunday I packed a bag and headed to a little inn the next town over. I had dinner by myself and spent the evening reading, watching TV (Call the Midwife and The Good Wife!!!), and writing. The boys had a picnic in the living room, eating goldfish mac n cheese and watching Frozen.

On Monday, they had some errands to run, then drove to the train station to take the train downtown. The boys haven’t ridden a train in a long time, and they loved it. Then they ate lunch at the old mall downtown, and walked around the city square. There was some quality video game time as well.

The kids were completely worn out when they got home this afternoon!

I love that Mark loves spending time with our kids so much, and that he’s able to take a day off just for them from time to time.
